THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT
THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT
The fruit of the Holy Spirit is the result of the Holy Spirit’s presence in the life of the believer.
The Fruit of the Holy Spirit is a biblical term that sums up nine attributes of a person or community living in accord with the Holy Spirit, according to chapter 5 of the Epistle to the Galatians: “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.” In contrast to the fruit of the Spirit are the works of the flesh, which immediately precede it in this chapter. THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT is a part of God’s nature that is communicable. That is, it’s able to be transmitted from God to man.
THE WORKS OF THE FLESH
Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness,
20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies,
21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. Gal 5:19-21 (NKJV)
